Lawrence (Larry) E. Scheurer

I am a Coug, through and through!  As a world-class sprinter, I learned to be determined, solve problems, strive for success and never give up.  Although I have dyslexia, I seemed to have this special ability of seeing things 3-dimensionally in my mind.  I always had a interest in architecture and this, along with my running ability, brought me to WSU.  Since receiving my Bachelors of Architecture from Washington State University's College of Engineering and Architecture in 1972, I have gained valuable experience in design, construction and development project management services.  The bulk of my early experience has been in the medical care field, but I also have extensive experience in other design and construction, including commercial/industrial, retail facilities, custom homes and historical building preservation projects.

My hospital and medical office building experience started with the Sisters of Mercy Hospital in Northern California andNorth Dakota. I also worked on Providence Medical Center and the Medical Office Building (tenant improvements) facilities in Seattle, Cabrini Hospital and Medical Tower (tenant improvements) in Seattle, Sacred Heart Hospital and the five-story Medical Office Building in Eugene, Oregon. My most recent medical experience has been on tenant improvments at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup (prior to their hospital replacement), along with numerous stand-alone medical office buildings in Seattle, Puyallup, Graham, University Place, Frederickson, Kent and Milton, Washington.

Non-medical commercial work has included the Central Avenue Plaza in Kent, Washington, a masonry retail strip mall, tenant improvements and exterior facade renovation at Michael's Plaza in Tacoma and restaurants, such as Crockett's in Puyallup, and the Mongolian Grill in Covington.   Residential work has included custom homes, remodels, additions, and condos in Gig Harbor (Canterwood) and Crescent Bar in Eastern Washington.  I have also done self-storage units and industrial buildings.

I have knowledge of current International Building Codes, as well as local and state zoning requirements and current energy codes.  I have done numerous environmental checklists.   My experience includes programming, planning, design, value engineering and construction management administration of facilities ranging from $100,000 to multi-million dollars in the private sector.  My development experience and knowledge has added additional service for the client/owner to make good decisions for a successful project, with projects finishing on schedule to obtain the best value for the dollar spent.

With the variety of skills and experience I possess, I look forward to helping you with your next project.  Whether it be project consultation, architectural design, construction management or development assistance, I am here to assist you.
